Wow it’s been a minute since my last blog 😮💨
I’ve felt such an urge recently to write in hope I can get Infront of the right eyes because we’re in a crisis right now. A crisis that SHOULD NOT be a thing and that is ‘cringe era’.
I’ve come across so many women this last year and well… for a long time really but definitely more so this year with the huge hype in faceless digital marketing.
I’ve met women with so much potential, so many with incredible hidden talents, style and ideas all of who have different backgrounds, all who are doing different things but all who have one thing in common and that is they’re afraid of chasing their dreams because they’re worried what people that they know personally will think or say so they’re either not even bothering or they’re hiding behind faceless accounts when the power of personal branding alone is LIFECHANGING but then they’re also worried about what people that they don’t even know on social media … their followers will think. Now if you’re reading this and you are one of these girls I have something to say and firstly that is PEOPLE DOING BETTER THAN YOU ARE NOT HATING… THE PEOPLE DOING LESS ARE THE ONES HATING.
THINK…HOW EMBARRASSING TO BE SAT ON SOCIAL MEDIA AIMLESSLY SCROLLING AND TROLLING people that are trying to make something of their life. THAT does NOT pass the vibe here at SWC and I find it so sad that it’s 2024 social media is changing lives. The digital industry is in the BILLIONS and will NEVER back down. SO the only thing cringe thing around here are the people that have something unkind to say about the people that are taking action even if it’s only needle moving tasks that are taking them a step towards a potentially incredible life or opportunity.
You wanna go create a fashion account and grow your following to 1Mil? Girl go do that. You wanna go make templates in Canva and sell them all over your socials? Go do that (fyi I know women doing this earning thousands every month!) You wanna start a side hustle and join whatever company? GO DO THAT. You wanna start a quotes page? Go do that. You wanna start a YouTube, a blog or podcast … GO DO THAT. Wanna write a book? Want to just do something for you that potentially and most likely will earn you money WITHOUT having to slave away for someone else’s company then clap clap you are one thing and that is ADMIRABLE!
Never let the fear of the unknown stop you from pursuing your dreams. CHASE them relentlessly. No one asking you to sit at their table? GO BUILD YOUR FUCKING OWN.
It’s not easy, nothing worth having is…but you know what is easy? Waking up everyday and going to the 9-5 coming home and moaning about how everyday is the same. Clocking in, clocking out living the basic standard life. That’s easy and that’s why so many people give up their dream life because THIS thing we’re trying to build, this life we crave and want IT’S not easy. It’s not easy to put yourself in-front of hundreds of thousands of people and throw around your creations, your thoughts, your desires, your whatever it is that you want to pursue none of it is easy and Overnight success isn’t a thing. People who have made it big will tell you it took them years, setbacks, moments where they were about to give up. Go and google when some of the world’s most successful people got their big break.
One of my favourite books is ‘How to be an overnight success’ by Maria Hatzistefanis if you haven’t read it… add it to your must reads.
I’ve been chasing my dreams since 2013 when I said to myself … this isn’t the end for me… working at McDonald’s as a parent of a 2 year old who’s partner had no access to the UK. It took me until 2020 to find my passion in art and the digital world and then a year later Mason Rayn my previous company was seen in Next, clothing boutiques were stocking apparel with my designs on I was seeing girls come into McDonald’s wearing my designs without them realising the same person making their Big Mac was the persons brand they were wearing.
I was still working there four hours a week to keep my foot in the door but one thing I will always remember is as a McDonald’s worker I was treated like shit, looked at like I had nothing going for me by the exact people that had gone to a shop and BOUGHT one of my designs. That is how mad this world is girls. But stay true to you don’t leave the day job until it feels right for you. Humbleness gets you far.
Fast forward another year and I started SWC. Now here I am designing and producing products that people are able to use to go and pursue their own dreams, story telling my experiences in hope that I resonate with you and inspire you. Putting myself out there not caring what ANYONE thinks of me because I am so determined and obsessed with what I create and who I help it’s made me unafraid to get up every time I fall and I relentlessly continue driving forward the entrepreneurship wagon to get exactly where I plan to go and may I add that SWC hasn’t even touched the surface of where I plan it to be because like I keep saying it’s not easy it’s really really hard especially when you have things going on, kids, relationships, 9-5s, general life loads etc. But by sharing my journey with you all I hope it keeps all of you swimming that river and being unafraid of all the currents you come across.
Winners only won because they never quit. Just like that girl you see living her best life - she had a tonne of people thinking she was cringe when she started putting herself all over socials when she first started out. Who had the last laugh? Her.
If you read that far I love you so so much
Go build your fucking brand
